Iumentis Compendium

The Iumentis Compendium is the foremost source of information on non-Earthborn lifeforms. Here we have taken the liberty of listing some of the most well-known (and dangerous) beasts throughout the galaxy. We ask that you pay close attention to each designated threat level before encountering any of these magnificent creatures in the wild.

TARDIGRADES

Tardigrades are the most common alien threat to humanity. It is unknown how these monsters became spacefaring, as anyone who has attempted to study them has met an untimely and gruesome death. Tardigrades routinely swarm small settlements and devour any living thing they can find; including Immortals in rare cases. A fully grown Tardigrade can reach a height of 10ft when standing erect. DO NOT engage a Tardigrade alone!
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM*

(*In small numbers)

MOUNTAIN HARPY

Mountain Harpies, as the name suggests, are native to mountainous regions throughout the milky way galaxy. Although these large avian beasts sport 6in long razor sharp talons, their preferred method of hunting is simply to swoop up their prey and drop them from a great height. If you find yourself on the mountain trail, then be sure to listen for their distinct shriek, and always watch the sky.
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM

KORIPHANT

The Koriphant bears many resemblances to the now extinct Earthborn elephant. They are relatively docile herbivores that largely avoid human settlements. However, they are extremely territorial and will charge if threatened.
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM-HIGH

TUNNEL SNAPPER

This terrifying creature burrows beneath the ground to surprise and trap their prey. Don’t let their diminutive size fool you. They have one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom. Watch your step!
THREAT LEVEL: LOW

LUPUS LUMINOUS

The Lupus Luminous, or “Light Hound”, is a bioluminescent cousin to the average dog. Once ferocious wolves, these pack hunters have since been domesticated over the last 2,000 years. Their beautiful glowing coats make them popular pets amongst nobility.
THREAT LEVEL: LOW

SQUID LEOPARD

Squid Leopards are so named due to its resemblance of Earth leopards as well as its eight appendages (Six legs with two tentacle arms). Its tentacles come equipped with sharp barbs that grab and pin their prey where they begin to maul and eat their quarry alive. If you can avoid being grabbed, then a veteran knight should be able to make quick work of the beast.
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM

GANYMEDE RHINO

Native to the frozen wastes of Ganymede, the Ganymede Rhino is a marvel to behold. Its tough hide and ability to smash shield walls made it a popular cavalry mount during the early days of the Pax Arma. However, it has since been replaced in favor of the faster, more agile, and more reliable swoop bike as the mount of choice. These creatures are easily startled and difficult to bring down. We recommend a full hunting party before engaging.
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM

DRAGON

Early space explorers were shocked when they discovered the first live dragon. Although they cannot breath fire, these fearsome monsters are otherwise identical to the mythical dragons of Earth lore. Massive in size and solitary by nature, these beasts will carve out a territory and kill anything that enters its domain. Their scales are nearly impervious to conventional weaponry, and their claws and teeth are capable of tearing through even the toughest armor with ease. We here at the Iumentis Compendium cannot in good conscience condone anyone to seek these creatures out. Proceed at your own risk.
THREAT LEVEL: HIGH

HELLIPEDE

This is not a creature you should hunt. We are not giving you this information for you to prepare yourself. We are giving you this information for your protection. The Hellipede goes by many names: the Demon, the Devil’s Wrath, Reaper, and even simply “Death.” There are only a handful of accounts of anyone running into this devil; all of which were collected from the bodies of its victims. No one has ever encountered the Hellipede and lived. The photo above is the only known picture of the beast. The camera was found still attached to its owners severed arm. From what we have gathered, we can say that it makes its home in ancient ruins and caves. It rivals a dragon in size, its skin is a sickly white, and it has many long arms running down its body to grab unsuspecting wanderers and drag them into the depths. If you hear a strange noise or see something pale move in the shadows, then run. Do not investigate. Do not stop. Just run. All hope abandon, ye who enter here.
THREAT LEVEL: AVOID AT ALL COST

FLIEGEND

A Merevect Knight atop a tamed fliegend
Large, winged and predator cat like creatures; fliegend are a native species of the moons around the gas giant Germania, in the Centauri system. These beasts are carnivorous and in general should be considered wild and potentially dangerous. Though fliegend are formidable they rarely attacked unprovoked, with the exception of mother fliegend guarding newly born pups. They posses large serrated claws on all four of their paws, as well as prominent fangs. Though they are winged fliegends ability to fly is limited, their wings are much better suited for long glides than quick aerial maneuvers. Only young or very small fliegend can launch themselves into the air from a stand still. (NOTE: Flight capability is greatly effected by relative gravity)
Fliegend appear in one house sigil. That of the Merevect, a powerful house of the Germanian Kingdom. The Merevect are also the only known tamers of the Fliegend. Through generations a selective breeding the Merevect have created an off shoot breed of fliegend that can be trained as war mounts. Merevect fliegend are slightly smaller than their wild cousins, and are pure black in color.
THREAT LEVEL: MEDIUM (WILD) LOW/HIGH (TAMED)
